Conditions of Hire
Nature may be beautiful and inspiring, but it is not always gentle – sea conditions can change quickly. As such, unguided/freedom sea kayak rentals are suited to experienced and confident paddlers only who understand sea conditions and how to manage risks. Freycinet Adventures requires the following of its Unguided Rental participants: - To be kayaking with at least one other person (i.e. no solo paddling)
- To be able to swim and rescue themselves in the event of a capsize
- To have previous paddling experience and be able to handle a kayak should sea conditions change.
- To understand the sea kayaking and safety equipment and its application
- To understand weather and sea conditions and the risks involved in the activity
- To wear a Personal Flotation Device (Life jacket) at all times while in the kayak.
Please note: You may be required to provide a practical demonstration of your paddling and rescue skills prior to hiring. Freycinet Adventures reserves the right to refuse rental clients and/or limit the areas in which rental clients can paddle.
Conditions of Hire
Please return all equipment in good condition and report any problems you had, damage caused and/or any repairs needed. The following fees may be charged on return of equipment, at the discretion of Coastal Adventures: Cleaning Fee; Repair or Replacement Fee to cover damage/loss of equipment; Retrieval Fee.
Deposit & Cancellation Fees
$30 deposit required to confirm day hire bookings
$100 deposit required to confirm multi-day bookings
For cancellations <48hrs prior to hire date or non arrival at agreed time, up to 100% of total hire cost will be charged.
Retrieval Fee
Boats needing to be collected from a location other than that agreed to between Coastal Adventures and the Hirer:
- From within Coles Bay (vehicle-based retrieval possible) - $30 per hour
- Beyond Coles Bay (motor boat retrieval required) - from $80 per hour
Cleaning Fee
For equipment returned in dirty condition. Sponges are provided to clean boats prior to return. $30 per kayak
Equipment Repair / Replacement
Damaged/lost equipment will be repaired where-ever possible and replaced where necessary. The cost of this repair / replacement is the responsibility of the hirer.
