Freycinet Adventures was born over 19 years ago from two great passions – Tasmania’s inspiring natural environment and a love of adventure. It was simple to create a business that shared these passions with our visitors – and what better way to experience a coastal wilderness like Freycinet, than by sea kayak. Freycinet Adventures have spent many years developing and delivering our sea kayaking experiences with three key things in mind – passion, people and place.

Our tours are run by our hand picked professional guides whose passion, enthusiasm, knowledge and character allow our tours to be the best of their kind in Tasmania. We understand that the experience starts from the moment of enquiry and we pride ourselves in providing the very best in customer service.

This commitment is recognised by several awards, however the best endorsement for us is the fact that 95% of our clients would recommend our tour to their family and friends.

We are incredibly proud of our family-run business as it has grown and developed. We continually strive to improve our products at every level and ensure that we use the very best in guides, equipment, local Tasmania food and follow sustainable tourism practice. We look forward to sharing our passion for sea kayaking and natural adventure experiences with you.

NATHAN CARINS – Owner/Director of Operations

Nathan’s love of the ocean was evident right from the start. His mum Chris used to take him sailing for his naps when he was just a baby. Growing up in Tasmania Nathan spent many hours out on the water with his family sailing, water-ski-ing, kayaking, fishing and surfing. He spent his weekends either enjoying the beach, or working at the local pool life-guarding and teaching swimming. Following his education, oceans on the other side of the world were calling and he packed his bags for France to begin a career in yachting. Together he, and his now wife Susan spent 7 years running super yachts all over the world. Working his way up from deckhand to Captain Nathan was lucky enough to drive boats in some spectacular places. He has sailed the Mediterranean, spent time cruising the USA & Caribbean and even cruised from France to Australia on an ex-baltic tugboat.

When it was time to return to Australia Nathan pretty much had salt water running through his veins. Retuning to Tasmania it was clear he needed to be on the water. Nathan’s family has a strong connection to Coles Bay, and he spent many of his childhood holiday’s running around Freycinet National Park. When the opportunity came to make the permanent move to the East Coast arose he was there in a heartbeat. Nathan & Susan purchased Freycinet Adventures in 2012 .He is a passionate sea kayaking with a genuine love of sharing this amazing part of the world with our guests.

SUSAN CARINS – Owner/General Manager

Susan is no stranger to the East Coast of Tasmania. Like Nathan she spent lots of her family holidays exploring this area is now thrilled to call it home.

Susan grew up in Tasmania with a passion for all things to do with the sea. Her bedroom was always filled with ‘treasure’ from shells and driftwood, to stinky sea urchins. Her family holidays were spent snorkelling, fishing and beachcombing. After her education Susan took a position with ABC television in Hobart. Like Nathan, the other side of the world was calling and she packed up and headed off to the South of France & the USA. Completing her diving qualifications in Mexico she talked her way onto a super yacht, spent lots of hours emailing Nathan and the rest is history.

Susan can’t get enough of Freycinet National Park and feels privileged to share it with our guests on a daily basis.
